A highlight of our team’s notable recreational project experience includes athletic facilities, urban and suburban parks, monuments, and greenway construction.
Romare Bearden ParkConstruction of 5 acre urban park facility, located at 300 Church Street in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Project includes: two gathering lawns with Bermuda sod and USGA certified root zone mix; an interactive fountain and public art; multiple gathering spaces; plazas; and an urban thoroughfare for the park bringing elements of water, art and gathering space together. There are also new vertical elements such as the Arbor, Trellis, Art Wall and a restroom facility located in the park equipped with green roof and sustainable design components. Worked closely with owner and design team on all aspects from unearthing unexpected elements to preparing the site for security reasons revolving around the Democratic National Convention. Coordinating with local commercial inspection process, design team and owner consistently throughout construction to ensure tight delivery schedule is met. Romare Bearden Park was named "AIA Charlotte's 2015 Landscape Choice Award," and honor received by project designer Land Design.
